Alante
is a 5 year
old Andalusian mare. Her is sire Don Marco and her Dam is Carena. She has mostly been ridden on the trails. Although, I
did take her to the Horse Expo in 2003 and she took everything there in
stride.
I am just now is starting the real
foundation work in her training.
"Since I allowed her to do
almost anything she wanted, she did anything she wanted,"
I wasn't
an issue to be dealt with as far as she was concerned.
Today she and I had our
first lesson with David Lichman, a premier Parelli instructor. After
3 hours of working
with her and David, in the structured program they
follow, she was doing everything for me! She had some formal basic
work when she was a 2 year old, but I hadn't followed up on any of it.
But, she is smart and picked right up on what I was learning to do with
her. I feel very happy that we were able to accomplish what we did
today.
I have always been slightly skeptical of these expensive highly marketed
natural horse training programs. This type
of "natural" training has been around for years, just never promoted as
something different and special.
I learned today that this program
will work for me......I have the experience, the background and the
technical
knowledge to know this will work
for me. I just needed instruction that broke the moves into steps
that I could do and understand why they work.
She is all girl....her nickname was
"Barbie" when she was younger. When I saw Don Marco I started
dreaming
and my dreams have come true in this mare. She is as
pretty as they get!
And she has the conformation, bone, movement and
mind to go with it!
This coming spring I am going to breed her for
the first time. Knowing the exceptional individuals that
Carena and Knight
Invader have produced, I have decided to breed Alante to Vader this time.
This will be the horse of anyone's dreams! |
